It is no surprise that children that have experienced periods of instability in their everyday life, will have experienced the same with education – with some children having missed large amounts of schooling. Because of this our children can often struggle in mainstream educational settings both academically and socially.
We feel strongly that each child has the right to access an education that can meet their appropriate level of need and will advocate for our children to ensure that this is organised. We have been working with a variety of local specialist provisions to establish links for a range of services for our children to be able to access which have given us many success stories with our placements. We also have excellent mainstream schools locally that, if appropriate, our children can attend. Sometimes attending any education setting can be too much for our children and in these instances, we can facilitate tutors coming to the home whilst robust and supportive transition plans for more permanent education are put in place. Alongside a tutor coming into the home, we will create a bespoke structured day timetable to engage the children in a range of different activities such as visits to the local castles, creating recipes and cooking these and swimming to name a few. These are tailored to the children's interests and areas of development to ensure successful progress. |
